Camp Out!

Zach and I went camping with his cub scouts! This was the first for me! What an adventure. Zach has been camping before but as a sibling on Brett's camp outs, this was all for Zach. He had a blast. Me, I was able to get some good sleep when we got home the next day. During the camp out, the scouts earned their whittling chip. They learned about knife safety and how to carve. Brett even helped out with the lesson. He was able to earn his Paul Bunion award for helping with outdoor safety. Zach with his awesome soap creation he carved. A fish. Zach spent a lot of time on the detail of his fish. Great job Zach! Good times around the camp fire eating hot dogs cooked on an open fire.

SHAC Jam!

Boy Scouts are celebrating 100 yrs of scouting! The Sam Houston Area Council held a huge Jamboree, called SHAC Jam! There were over 30,000 scouts there. The boy scouts got to camp all weekend, while cub scouts had a day adventure. Brett and his troop camped, while Doug and I went for the day with Zach! We are officially a scouting family. Doug and Zach at the gate ready for some scout fun. The line into the World Speed Way was as far down the feeder road as you could see..... Zach and some of his fellow scouts. Trip, Liam, Tucker and Zach. Zach learning how to use chop sticks. Me and Mandy, one fun mom! She has been trying to get me, I mean Zach, to join cub scouts for 2 yrs, Zach finally decided the "work" was worth the fun! Trip, Zach and Tucker by the Tiger Scout mascot. Zach, earning his science belt loop and pin, learning about water solubility. Zach holding an alligator and learning about wild life conservation. There was even a Sea Scout area where the boys learned about scouting and survival on the sea. The NASA exhibit. Zach got to speak with a real astronaut. The scout cart race! Doug and Zach won!

Tailgating: Aggie Style

We had a fun day of tailgating and Aggie Football. The Junior Aggie had their fun Fan Zone up and going. The boys were able to join in Kids Yell, see the Yell Leaders, Aggie Band, and even give the football players a good luck high-five as the were going into the locker room to get ready. Zach, giving the players "good luck" and a big Gig'Em as they head into the locker room before the game. Zach enjoying the inflatables at the Junior Aggie Fan Zone. Tailgating: food, fun and games before the big game!

Aggie Football!

We went to the Aggie vs Florida International University game. This was the boys first complete Aggie football experience. Brett is one proud Aggie! Of course Zach is eating a hot dog, even after eating a full meal at the tailgate. I gotta say, it was good to sit for the game. I enjoy the former student side! The 12th man. The boys wanted to visit the former First Ladies of Aggieland.

Cub Scout Memories

I made a shadow box of Brett's cub scout achievements. His two uniform shirts, all his belt loop awards, his achievement pins, special patches, and all the WEBLOS achievements he earned.

First Day of School

Brett and Zach ready for their first day of school for the 2010-11 school year. Zach, now in 3rd grade. He has some great teachers and it looks like it will be a good year. Brett now in 6th grade. Still at Oakwood Intermediate School, but now the big sixth grader... He is on the Panther team and has a lot of good friends with the same schedule.

2010 River/ Schlitterbahn Trip

We took our annual Schlitterbahn trip and took an afternoon to tube the river. Brett and Zach spent most of their time out of the tubes and just playing in the river. The river was running good and we enjoyed plenty of fun rapids. We stayed on site at Schlitterbahn and even enjoyed quick trips down the Comal river. After one long day at Schlitterbahn, the boys were very anxious to float the Comal. Me, I was content just relaxing in the room, but we went anyway. Getting in the river my tube took off without me, I slipped on the steps getting in, plunged in the river, and then had a time getting into my tube. This is me once up in the tube and after a good laugh... Zach on the Hillside Shoot at Schiltterbahn. Me and the boys enjoying the Hillside Shoot ride.
