The Saint Franciscan Wolf Sanctuary
Zach and his cub scout den visited the Saint Franciscan Wolf Sanctuary. They are located in Montgomery Texas. The owner, Jean LaFevre, is from Europe, knew the founders of the Boys and Girl Scouts, even worked with the very first Girl Guides in India. She is amazing. She started this sanctuary to help the wolves. They are taken in and taken care of the rest of their lives. Each of these animals was rescued from a home where the people thought they could keep a wolf as a pet. Some are even a mixed breed with dogs, but remain wild. Zach and his scouts learned about life as a wolf, how to tell a wolf from a dog, and even got to interact with one of the wild wolves. Zach learned that a wolf is very shy, has shorter ears than a dog, and has golden eyes. They also keep their tales down, where as dogs hold it up. He also learned that it is the female that is usually in charge and keeps the male in line. Zach with Tayla. She is a very calm and accepting wolf. She loves to interact with visitors and children. While Zach was sitting and meeting Tayla, she licked his face. (it could be because he had just eaten a chip :) Me and Mandy waiting to pet a wolf.

Camp Out!
Zach and I went camping with his cub scouts! This was the first for me! What an adventure. Zach has been camping before but as a sibling on Brett's camp outs, this was all for Zach. He had a blast. Me, I was able to get some good sleep when we got home the next day. During the camp out, the scouts earned their whittling chip. They learned about knife safety and how to carve. Brett even helped out with the lesson. He was able to earn his Paul Bunion award for helping with outdoor safety. Zach with his awesome soap creation he carved. A fish. Zach spent a lot of time on the detail of his fish. Great job Zach! Good times around the camp fire eating hot dogs cooked on an open fire.

Tailgating: Aggie Style
We had a fun day of tailgating and Aggie Football. The Junior Aggie had their fun Fan Zone up and going. The boys were able to join in Kids Yell, see the Yell Leaders, Aggie Band, and even give the football players a good luck high-five as the were going into the locker room to get ready. Zach, giving the players "good luck" and a big Gig'Em as they head into the locker room before the game. Zach enjoying the inflatables at the Junior Aggie Fan Zone.
